Yes, it’s true. World-renowned actor, Tony Shaloub, is coming to Door County to participate in the Olde Ellison Bay Days Festival on June 29.
What is Olde Ellison Bay Days? It’s a Door County tradition each June. In fact, this is the 47th year! The 2013 festival theme is “Feed the Fish”, in honor of the film well-known to Door County residents featuring Tony Shalhoub, star of the popular “Monk” TV series and winner of many theatrical awards. Mr. Shalhoub – who played the irascible local sheriff in “Feed the Fish” – will serve as Grand Marshal of the 2013 Olde Ellison Bay Days’ Parade, which will roll down Grand View grade and through Ellison Bay beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 29th.
Filmed in and around Ellison Bay during the winter of 2008, “Feed the Fish” has become a favorite among Door County residents and drawn many seasonal visitors and vacationers to the County since its 2009 release nationwide. It’s Producer, Director (and Tony Shalhoub’s nephew) Michael Matzdorff, has agreed to serve as “Co-Marshal” of the Olde Ellison Bay Days’ Parade with Tony.
This year, Olde Ellison Bay Days will commence at Ellison Bay’s Community Park at noon on Friday, June 28th, with live art demonstrations, children’s activities and pie baking contest judging in the Community Park Club House. In keeping with its fishy theme, the festival will climax on Saturday evening, June 29th, at the Mink River Basin Supper Club with music by the classic rock band, Rocky Waters.
As always, Olde Ellison Bay Days will feature an extensive Arts and Crafts Fair, family entertainment ranging from kids’ games to Ellison Bay’s signature “water golf shoot-out” off the Community Park Pier, BBQ and traditional picnic fare, including root beer floats and strawberry shortcake like grandma used to make − as well as music by Replica band and a hike through the scenic Grand View property guided by the Door County Land Trust on Saturday afternoon! (See full schedule below.)
Parking and admission to the 47th annual Olde Ellison Bay Days are free.
