Theme: Birds and Bees = Spring
The artists, galleries and schools in Ellison Bay can’t wait to show off all the new art, classes, clothing, household furnishings, Asian antiques, cheese, pottery, paintings, cider and refreshments at the Ellison Bay Arts Spring Art Crawl May 18 and 19 in Ellison Bay.
Ellison Bay is home to three potteries, two schools, a contemporary folk art gallery, two fabric, leather and fiber galleries, an antique and original Asian art gallery, a gallery full of paintings and a cider house and tasting room.
There’s enough original fine craft and fine art in Ellison Bay to satisfy all creative Lovers of Art’s passion for hunting out the unique and one of a kind works.
The two schools: The Clearing Folk School and Savory Spoon Cooking School and Schoolhouse Artisan Cheese can feed the need to create your own work and plan to demonstrate just that all weekend.
The three potteries: Clay Bay Pottery, Gills Rock Stoneware and Ellison Bay Pottery, will wow shoppers with the beauty, functionality, and variety in each gallery. These potters, whose work reflects their love of all things Door County, are also founding members of the Door County Potters Guild.
Is contemporary folk art such as carvings, baskets and paintings along with other traditional American crafts your passion? Visit Newport House Gallery to explore and discover.
Fabric and leather painted with original designs, other fiber arts or even painted rugs and furniture are at both Cousin’s Walk and then Turtle Ridge Studio Gallery. These two artists with distinctively different styles create a feast for the eyes.
The newest members of the Ellison Bay Arts are Bonnie Paruch, who paints, teaches and fills her gallery with her atmospheric paintings of Door County and the Island Orchard Cider House and Tasting Room which makes hard apple cider in the Normandy tradition.
Be sure to take a little side trip to Asia, right in the middle of downtown Ellison Bay: Linden Gallery is full of Asian antiques and original Asian art. It’s like a museum where everything is for sale.
Ellison Bay Arts encourages you to come and stay for coffee, lunch or dinner at the many fine restaurants in Northern Door May 18 and 19 while you explore all the arts Ellison Bay has to offer.
